Meet the creator of COCOLUME

Just a girl who decided to go for it..

So, it all started about 3 years ago.

My name is Liz, I am the creator and manufacturer of COCOLUME..

Believe it or not, I started Cocolume without the dream of ever wanting to start a business, I never wanted to be an entrepreneur or own my own business. I didn’t have a business mind, it never interested me and the thought of studying business and commerce at university sent chills down my spine.  My passion was medicine and animals, I studied and trained as a veterinary technician.  I came over from New Zealand 10 years ago to further my veterinary career, however, seven years ago I had to give it up due to epilepsy, my seizures were getting so severe that I could no longer work with out risking harm to myself or the patients.

From then on in, my health just kept getting the better of me, I was diagnosed with having a severely comprised autoimmune system and many other delipitating illnesses which played havoc on my body, especially my skin.  It has gotten to the point now where I can no longer use body washes/ moisturisers / skin care in general that contain sulphates, certain preservatives and certain surfactants. Basically if it has chemicals in it.. I break out in hives. Its not pretty.

After a trip over to Rarotonga I had discovered the most incredible coconut oil, for the first time my skin started responding. So, I started making my own products to heal my own skin health conditions to make my own life easier. I became slightly obsessed and started studying natural remedies and skin care, it became my passion, and this is how Cocolume was born.

I was encouraged by friends and loved ones to go further, so I did, I studied more, tested more, and I slowly started (and very shyly, having never sold anything before) entering the very scary marketplace.. with the only start up funds I had were by selling my clothes to pay for ingredients, which I still do to this day..

I am pretty proud of myself how far I have come.. I still struggle with my immune system, it takes twice as long for me to get something done, I still make everything by hand in my kitchen, but I know that my products have come purely from my own heart, and they work.. I’ll never give up and I have the motivation to keep growing bigger, to help improve other people’s lives and to help teach people as well – that’s more important to me than filling my pockets with empty money.

So this is why I really want people to support the little people.

Who really do what they do and make with love

I hope you fall in love with these products as I have.
