Meet the creator of COCOLUME

It all started about 4 years ago..

My name is Liz, I am the creator and manufacturer of COCOLUME.

I started Cocolume without wanting to be an entrepreneur or a business owner. I’ve never been business minded, it never interested me.  My passion was medicine and animals, I studied and trained as a veterinary technician.  I arrived in Australia from New Zealand 10 years ago to further my veterinary career, however, six years ago I had to give it up. I am epileptic, my seizures were getting so severe that I could no longer work with out risking harm to myself or the patients.

From then on,  my health deteriorated, I was diagnosed with having a severely comprised autoimmune system, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency  and many other illnesses which played havoc on my body, causing malnutrition and vitamin and mineral deficiencies – this showed especially my on skin.  It would react badly to just about anything I put on it, to the point I could no longer use body washes / moisturisers that contained sulphates, certain preservatives and certain surfactants. I would break out in hives. It wasn’t / isn’t pretty.

After travelling over to the Cook Islands,  I discovered their sustainable coconut oil,  my skin loved it.

Fast forward a few years, using that coconut oil as a base,  I was making my own products to assist my skins health. It was my passion and full time hobby, and this is how Cocolume was born.

Encouraged to do more, I studied more, tested more, and I slowly started selling..

I am pretty proud of myself how far I have come.. I still struggle with my immune system. It takes twice as long for me to get something done. I still make everything by hand. However,  I know that my products are made with the only the best ingredients sourced locally and in and around the Pacific Islands, they smell amazing and they work..
